Impressive for $5
Games rarely hold my interest for long anymore, but this one has consumed quite a few hours of driving around and blowing things up. Quite well done, especially at the price point. They’ve attempted to control cheats, unfortunately it still impacts the online play. The requirement to pay for the top tier tanks is a little annoying, although $0.99 is definitely within the impulse buy range.
My biggest problem with the game is actually with the damage model. The way things work, the tank with the highest rate of fire will win. This is quite unrealistic (high ROF is almost always due to a smaller gun, a gun which cannot penetrate nearly as much armour), and it completely skews which tanks you need to worry about or strive to obtain. The best tanks in reality are not particularly good in the game. The high ROF also turns the game from a slightly strategic maneuver-and-shoot into an arcady bang-bang-bang of whoever can put the most shots on target the quickest.
